I tried to take pains calculating approximately how long their friendship lasted (1969-1976) before the mudblood incident. Here's hoping I'm better at math than JKR.

Ehehehehe, awesome! Yes, I can totally see Severus being all grumblypants about the photos until Lily does something surprising to make him smile. And once he does smile, awwww, he's cuuute!! I've always thought Severus would be... well, never handsome by any stretch of the imagination, but kind of adorable in a weird way if he'd just quit scowling and sneering all the time. ;)

I think he's cute when he scowls and when he smiles. From what I could gather from Harry's visit through his memories, the poor boy clearly seemed to wear his emotions on his sleeve.

And I love the word grumblypants to describe his first expression. :D

I fear look at all of these together, there will be a general aura of sadness. I like to think of this as a happy moment in Snape's life that only became sad upon reflection of what was lost. But at the time, grumpy Sev was indeed on cloud nine.
