That is a really impressive sketch of Mr. Cumberbatch. The detail and quality -- wow. And it's especially funny next to your Hermione-fangirl who looks almost like a plushie. In fact...hmm. ;-)
Burger and doughnut? That made me laugh so much. Is that the fangirl or the skull fantasizing about those? The festive little toothpick atop the burger just kills me.
So, SQUEE turns out to be an acronym, does it? Or is it just the rhythm spelled out by the gusty sighs of longing from the collective fanbase?
I started drawing this while at the mechanic's, but I waited until I got home to find a reference to draw Cumberbatch. You'd think with all the time I spend mooning and sighing over photos of him on tumblr that I'd be able to draw him from memory.
Alas...
Oh god, she would make an awesome plushie, wouldn't she? What colors do you see her in? What color is her hair?
Yes, that's the skull's mind palace. She likes to remember food.
Yes, the squee is an acronym, just like H.O.U.N.D.
BTW, have you got yourself a Cabin Pressure t-shirt yet? I want to wear mine at Ascendio and hope to see others there as well. :D
Her hair is frizzy mid-brown Hermione. The coat, scarf, and hat are all Sherlockian, of course, but I think the mittens are red. The boots -- khaki green? Bright yellow? The fangirl is American, right? A tourist? So maybe jeans?
I try to avoid t-shirts. They tend to cling to my belly and show it off in all its abundance. :-) Fortunately, the Lestradification items are very kind about not highlighting that particular feature of mine.
I know I have an idea in my head of what she looks like, but that might not really match with what most other people see and I'd kind of hate for my ideas to ruin someone else's fun. I do imagine her in a skirt when I draw her (which we never see under the coat) and tights, so the jeans idea didn't occur to me.
And about her being American, I guess she could be, but I honestly didn't think about that. She's definitely NOT British or she wouldn't do some of these silly things. :D
Speaking of your Lestradification, what are your plans for your hair? I'm asking because I recall your analysis on size and color being important in the cosplay realm, and Lestrade does have such a lovely head of grey and silver hair. Are you thinking of doing something similar (either with spray or a wig) to your hair?
I'm not going to try to look like Lestrade at all. Acting limitations and such, you know. :-) I was just going for what Lestrade would look like if she were played by an Asian woman. The most I've done is, for the first time in ages, NOT get my gray hairs dyed for meeting with my parents. I didn't feel like doing it anyway and it's a legitimate part of the magnificence that is middle-aged Lestrade, who likes being in his forties better than being 23 and beautiful. A couple of times, for Lestradification purposes, I have parted my hair way on the side where the white is heaviest and then braided the darker hair out of the way and pinned it back so the white hairs show, which is fun (and the girls love this look) but it's not dignified enough for a D.I. on the job.
That is so cool. I am very seriously considering adding some purple streaks to my hair to accompany the grey (which is not in significant clusters yet). I think purple and silver will look pretty cool together on the brown. I don't know if I'll have this done before Ascendio.
Just in case, I ended up purchasing a sandy blond wig for femme John (Joan/Johanna/Jen/Jane). I'm not sure what to call her since there is going to be an actual Joan Watson in Elementary. Also, I love wigs and this is a particularly nice blond bob.
Yummy Cumberbatch (the hearts made me cackle), and the delightful Milne-esque quality to this series has utterly enchanted me. *twirls you and sings arias to your awesomeness*
LOL I didn't even notice until now that the skull has its own mind palace! I assumed the burger and donut are part of the mind palace that shares its space with Benedict Cumberbatch. Because Benedict goes so well with burgers and donuts.
I was worried that would be harder to pick up, but yes. The Skull has her own mind palace. She's a little less fixated on fannish stuff than the fangirl.
But you're right. Now that America has claimed Benedict, he definitely goes with junk food as a sweet, sweet indulgence.
Among a prohibitive number of projects, I must make up my mind palace. i think it will be my grandmother's house. A magician I know can use it to memorize the order of an entire deck of cards in a few moments. Again, though I've said it before, I love your fangirl and I love her skull. I just realised I have a bottle of crystal head vodka in a skull. I must put it on the mantle. I wonder if I can pick one up for the con. I'm going to get a Sherlock haircut, I think.
