Title: Lestrade Fancies a Holiday or The Adventure of the Missing Student
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] pennswoods as Sherlock Holmes and [livejournal.com profile] drinkingcocoa as Detective Inspector Lestrade and
Rating: PG for very mild swearing
Word Count: 712
Notes: Composed originally as text messages sent on our phones in real time and then cleaned up and formatted for online.  This is our first attempt at voicing the characters and collaborative fic writing, and we make no promises that we'll get any better!

From Lestrade:
My office. Now. I'm fancying a holiday and I need my badge back.

Get another. -SH

From Lestrade:
I'm not stupid, you know. I know where you keep them. Don't make me come over there.

Stop harassing me unless you have a case. -SH

From Lestrade:
I always have cases. The criminal classes of London don't stop just because you won't
return police property, Sherlock.

All the police property in London won't solve the double homicide on Harley Street. I'll be there in 30. -SH

And send Anderson home. -SH

From Lestrade:
Bring my badge or I won't let you on site.

Don't be tedious. I'm bringing John. -SH

From Lestrade:
I know. He already texted me that he's bringing my badge. You should really find new hiding places.

John finds what I want him to find. -SH

From Lestrade:
Thank you. Sent Anderson home.

Good. His ignorance is infectious. -SH

From Lestrade:
Just try not to insult the remaining officers, okay? Half of them threatened to
leave with Anderson when they heard you were coming.

Not my area. -SH

                              *                 *                 *

Arrest the neighbor in flat 2C. -SH

From Lestrade:
Done. As you very well know, we couldn't have done it without you. Press conference
tomorrow morning. Will you come?

Absolutely not. -SH

                              *                 *                 *

From Lestrade:
Good morning, Sunshine. Press conference starts at 10.

Clever of you contacting John. -SH

From Lestrade:
I didn't. He contacted me.

There will be absolutely no hats. -SH

From Lestrade:
No tie pins. No cufflinks. They just want to say thank you, Sherlock. And I've got
another case for you.

In the cab now. -SH

                              *                 *                 *

From Lestrade:
New case: triple murder at the university. Prime suspect has been PhD candidate for 11 years. The curious thing is that no one in the department has heard from him for months.

From Lestrade:
His flat has been sublet to three disheveled undergrads. Go to it.

From Lestrade:
PS. Murders took place after a faculty meeting.

What discipline? -SH

From Lestrade:
I think you already know the answer.

Then irrelevant. Psychology faculty are more blood-thirsty. -SH

                              *                 *                 *

No less than four living in flat. Look for a woman. Graduate student. Anthropology. Specializing in cultural. Limited competences in forensic. -SH

From Lestrade:
Is this a lead?

From Lestrade:
Don't tell me you've solved this already.

Nearly. This one is clever. Too clever to study anthropology. -SH

Too much imagination for the sciences. Too vindictive for business. -SH

From Lestrade:
And where is the missing graduate student?

Red herring. -SH

From Lestrade:
Enjoying yourself?

Quite. -SH

                              *                 *                 *

From Lestrade:
Are you alright? This one is dangerous. Don't get separated from John. I'll get there as soon as I can.

They took John! -SH

From Lestrade:
Oh shit. On it. You must be close for them to have taken John.

From Lestrade:
What can you give me on where to start looking?

Library. Romance languages. -SH

From Lestrade:
Meet you there now.

Wait in linguistics for my signal. -SH

And don't take the lift. -SH

From Lestrade:
Almost there.

From Lestrade:
This is where I am right now. Making my way over to linguistics. Taking stairs.

Books by Virginia Woolf in library stacks.

I can see you. Stay where you are. -SH

                              *                 *                 *

At hospital with John. He sends his thanks -SH

As do I. -SH

But next time, shoot sooner. -SH

From Lestrade:
Dim sum's on me when you two get out of hospital. Don't be too hard on the staff.
Thank you, Sherlock. John, we couldn't have done it without you.

From Lestrade:
Now that's sorted, I'm off on holiday to Weston-super-Mare. Get Dimmock if you need
anything.

From Lestrade:
Go easy on him. He may still fancy you, but other than that he has good judgment, and at least that means he'll work with you. Don't break London while I'm gone.

Holidays are boring. -SH

John's given me a look. Apparently, I'm being rude. Enjoy your holiday, Lestrade. -SH

But hurry back. -SH

From Lestrade:
I'll miss you, too, but I have to go away first to miss you, don't I? Now be good
or I'll set Anderson on you.

Not if you ever expect my help again. -SH

This is what I envision doing with the other texts. It took me a while to figure out the formatting on it, but once I did, it's easy to just copy and paste. I sort of want to figure out a different color or possibly font for different characters. What color do you think for Mrs. Hudson?
