Even though Harry looks like a firstie here, it looks like Harry doesn't receive a detention from Snape until fourth year.

Oh, goodness, this is so amusing! Although the professor is clearly enjoying Harry's ordeal, there is something quite sweet about this scene; it is somehow innocent and not mean-spirited at all. Giving them aprons was a nice touch :-) I absolutely love the way you drew this picture.

I did want to draw a few happy moments for Snape in this series.

But is it really canon that Snape doesn't give Harry detention until fourth year? Or did I misunderstand your description?

Yes, this is exactly what I meant. I'm relying on the Lexicon, which has a page listing all the detentions (http://www.hp-lexicon.org/hogwarts/classes/detentions.html), and it looks like the first detention given by Snape was to Ron in 3rd year. It is possible this is in error, though.
