When They Finally Started Snogging

Finally and at long last. This is one of the pictures I drew for PR's Paintbursh & Quill Collaboration with lady_karelia. I finished up the lineart a while back and decided to complete the coloring in celebration of getting off my first draft of the results chapter of my dissertation. Yeah!

So for all the SS/HG lovers out there, here's a little PG-rated snogging action.

Ooo, I like this one. I love how the stern tilt of Snape's eyebrow matches the surrendering tilt of Hermione's eyebrow. I love the angry little crease on Snape's forehead. I love Hermione's robes, and they seem eminently Hermione-ish to me. You do a great SS/HG. :)

Hermione's robes are a lovely periwinkle - the exact color I always imagined her dressrobes to be for the Yule Ball.

This is such a cute picture. I like it very much. I didn't catch the master-touch in it at the first glance but then I blinked and thought, 'Wow! This is awesome!' Your lines are firm and unfaltering and the whole drawing has a really nice style. You did a very good job with the colouring, no shades, just a change of tones. I like it especially on Snape's coat and hair (great haircut, indeed, I like the sharp ends of his strands) and the upper part of Hermione's dress. Hermione's hair seems sort of strange to me. Smaller waves would probably look more natural but on whole it goes with the style quite well. Hermione's head should be perhaps more leaned to her left (given by the position of her chin) yet their faces are done so gently and lovely I can't stop looking at them. And their hands, too! Even though they could be a bit bigger your hands are approximately as long as your face). What I like about them is their shape and form (oh, I know how difficult they are to draw!). Your hands, however, look completely believable. I love that you can actually sense the position of their bones :D and feel how Snape is putting his weight on his left arm. And the bits of his and Hermione's shirt sticking out from under their clothes are nicely done, I love such details (btw. Snape's coat is nicely creased and tensed (I know it probably isn't the right word but I'm not used to comment paintings in English)). It's really well done. Now, the flesh reminds of pictures of Alfons Mucha (Czech artist). His pieces might seem too flat (partially because of the technique) but they are very soft and delicate.
