Not quite done, but here's the piece so far. I wanted to draw these two in parallel as much as possible since the purpose of this piece is to highlight their similarities. This meant I wanted to use similar coloring techniques on both. Both have a talisman that is not black and both have a textured hero's cape of sorts. Sherlock's coat pleases me with how it came out, but I struggled a bit finding a way to incorporate a different but parallel technique for Snape's robes. Black is always tricky to represent, but I settled on tiny circles with tight horizontal lines to give his robes a more fluid feel.

I like how you highlighted the edges of the coats in thick, white lines. Very dramatic!

Hello there, red buttonhole! *loves*

SNAPE'S HANDS. The spidery clenched look. So much tension.

Ha! at how Snape's clothes make Sherlock's coat look not black at all! It reads as black or almost black usually, but this is like "Oh, I'll show you black. Mua ha ha ha ha."

Both of them make me just want to slide my hands around their waists, beneath their cloaks, and embrace them. I feel like I know these prickly, complicated people. I am quite sure they both love me. :-) I will be nice to them and I will just laugh when they grumble.

P.S. The other day, I had to use my sewing machine and I was puzzled to find that I'd left it with red thread on top, black thread in the bobbin, and the buttonhole foot. Huh? What on earth...? OH. Right. Buttonhole for the Sherlock mitten.

Heeeeeeee.

This is wonderful. I like what you've attempted with Snape's robe - it looks like rough wool, which might not have been the effect you were going for, but it DOES look like fabric and differentiates it nicely from his suit. Sherlock's coat and scarf are perfection, and both faces are full of character. *applauds*
