dickgloucester's Squeeful Saturday prompt - A mature Snape, looking thoughtful but not grumpy. I interpreted mature to mean older than I have ever drawn him, so I went ahead and turned his hair silver and found inspiration for the deeper lines and bags around his eyes from the amazing Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes (and I think he would have made a glorious Snape!) Here we see an older Severus, around 60, looking content as he reflects on his life and successes in his Headmaster's chair.

The muse really moved me on this one.

Oh, my! So very very nice! I love his older look with a few wrinkles (NOT brought on by Dark Lords and spying duties) and grey hair, although for wizards, wouldn't that be closer to age 80?

I was torn about the age, but I thought he might be the type to prematurely grey and that it would look smashing on him.

I don't think I've ever drawn Snape smiling or laughing. This sounds like a challenge!

Love the detail inc. green red, yellow blue also the raised eyebrow is amazing!

Oh man! So many things to love about this picture! What I love most is what it tells about what would happen to a older gentleman Severus. He's still surrounded with Hogwarts--you can't wash that out of your hair no matter what color ;) And I love the idea of an older Severus still indulging in a bit of manscaping. Those eyebrows are a thing of beauty! al;sfjaslfad;

Your manscaping comment had me in stitches. For some reason, I always give Severus extremely slim brows.

I think older gentlemanly manscaped Severus is my new favorite thing.

This was all Dicky's idea - I'd never thought to do a white haired Snape, but he looks good like this, I think.

How's he keep the eyebrows black, though?

I had a dream about him like this once (though older, around 80 something). The white hair and black eyes was certainly very startling. I think it's Tru Fax that he keeps that clear dark gaze all his life.

D'oh! I didn't even consider that. Maybe they're greying more slowly.
